Mind the Gap

Celebrating Women in London

Mind the Gap aims to highlight locations in London that played a central part in the Women’s Lib movement from the 1960s–80s.

The narrative, 'We've always been here', affirms the meaningful roles of women throughout London's history and challenges the misconception that multiculturalism and diversity are solely 21st century issues.

Championing the grass-roots nature of second wave feminism, the project targets the London underground and memorialises a previous generation of feminists—in doing so, past ambitions for equality are re-contextualised for today.

A call to action directs the public to www.mindthegap.com, a platform that allows feminist networks to generate based on location.

Asking users to type in their postcode and form networks based on location encourages ease of meeting and a sense of community.
